Filters such as "Contains", "Overlaps", "Consumed", or "Is consumed by" are essential tools for cross-referencing member availability, assigning the right people to the right shifts, and anticipating logistical needs such as meals. They are especially useful when performing precise searches based on time slots or assignment periods.
Example 1: Shift Assignment (8:00 AM – 10:00 AM)
You want to identify members available during this time slot. Here's how to interpret the filters:
- Contains: selects members available at a specific moment within the time slot (e.g. 9:15 AM).
- Is Within: selects members whose availability is fully included within the shift time (e.g. 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM).
- Overlaps: selects members whose availability partially overlaps with the shift time (e.g. 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM).
- Includes: selects members whose availability completely covers the shift time (e.g. 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM).
Example 2: Lunch Planning (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, 16 May)
To estimate how many volunteers to provide lunch for on that day:
- Filter by assignment date
- Select the Overlaps option
- Enter the relevant time slot (e.g. 16/05/2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM)
The system will return all members assigned during that time slot, allowing you to adapt your planning accordingly.
