In the management of an event or an operational system, it’s essential to distinguish between a shift and an accreditation, as they follow two different logics with distinct purposes and processes.
The Shift
A shift refers to a specific role or task assigned to a person within a defined framework. It allows for clear planning of who does what, when, and where.
Specifically, a shift allows you to:
- assign a member to a position or function,
- generate a clear schedule,
- create shift sheets with key information (time, location, instructions, etc.).
This system supports smooth team organization and optimal allocation of human resources.
The Accreditation
An accreditation, on the other hand, is not tied to a specific task or role. It is a right granted to a person, which can take several forms:
- access to a specific area,
- accommodation,
- meals,
- equipment or gear,
- free access, etc.
It can be issued in different formats:
- Physical: badge, sticker, wristband, token…
- Digital: smart card, NFC wristband…
Its main purpose is to visually or electronically control the rights of a person, independently from any shift they might have.
