Wi-fi connection specification for our cashless terminals

Type of device

Our terminals work with both Android and iOS. They connect to the Wi-Fi using 2.4Ghz and/or 5Ghz frequencies (depending on the type of device, please get in touch with us if your system does not support one of these two frequencies).

SSID

We recommend a VLAN network dedicated to Weezevent, associated with an SSID using personal WPA2 protection (WPA2 PSK). We will ask you to use a specific identifier that we will provide you (numbers and letters). The SSID must be publicly available (no hidden networks). Please confirm the network references (SSID and password) 15 days before the start of the event so that we can automatically roll-out the set-up in the office.

Set-up

The terminal must be able to retrieve an IP in DHCP and directly access the Internet (no captive portal).

Terminals connect to multiple hosts that point to different IP addresses, which can change over time. The provided DNS server must therefore meet the specified Time to Live (TTL).

Necessary bandwidth

In terms of capacity, the terminals synchronise at regular intervals. There is no network call for each transaction, but the correct synchronisation allows festivalgoers to top up online and the event planner to view sales in real time. It also helps us a lot during operation (battery tracking, etc.).

As a general rule, a minimum of 1 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth per 100 terminals is required.

In case Weezevent teams provide services at the event, the on-site team will need full Internet access for the proper management of the event (2 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth), so please get in touch if you wish to set up an outgoing filtering.

Number of connected devices

The terminal is a mobile device and each salesperson will have one. It is therefore necessary to plan for 100 to 1,000 devices connected simultaneously, depending on the system in place.

Be sure to choose the network range and size the DHCP server and gateway for example. In the event that the geography of the event requires a high density of devices, it is also necessary to size the Wi-Fi access points based on the number of terminals planned for each area.

It should also be noted that a network reinforcement is required at the equipment storage point before deployment. The devices are stored in the same place and need to be synchronised. You therefore need to provide a Wi-Fi access point large enough to accommodate all the equipment planned.
